Call for proposals

The next meeting of the GANIL Program Advisory Committee (PAC) will take place on the 14th and 15th of November 2023.
It will be held  in presence

This call is open for experimental proposals to be performed at the GANIL cyclotrons experimental areas and the SPIRAL2/NFS facility.

The deadline for submission of the proposals is September 28th, 2023 (12:00 CET).

Proposals for the NFS facility need to consider specific characteristics available on the NFS Web page.

Proposals for experiments in the D6 experimental hall in 2024 are required to be compatible with the MUST2-MUGAST setup, to run as a campaign and coordinated as such, among the spokespersons, contact persons and scientific coordinators, prior to the proposal submission. Other set-ups can however be considered in D6 either if they are compatible with the MUST2-MUGAST campaign or if their planned programmation period is after 2024.

The PARIS array (8 to 10 clusters of 9 phoswiches each) will be available for the experiments to be performed in 2024.

SPIRAL1 experiments and beam developments are encouraged. Since 2021, several in beam tests have been performed at the SPIRAL1 complex. The consolidated yields are given here.
Requests for test-beam time in auxiliary mode are encouraged via the following form.

The submission of experimental proposals to GANIL PAC should follow the procedure below:
  1. Prior to the proposal submission, you are requested to communicate with the equipment scientific coordinators (see list here)
  2. The proposal should be submitted to GANIL via online submission using the following web form https://u.ganil-spiral2.eu/pac/
  3. The spokesperson will be notified of the validity of the proposal for submission to the PAC by email from the GANIL Beam Coordinator, before October 5th, 2023.
  4. Each collaborator must confirm before submission of the proposal form that they have read the proposal and have agreed to participate in the experiment.
  5. Spokespersons and all collaborators are required to subscribe as members of the GANIL User Community (GUC). To become a member, please register at https://u.ganil-spiral2.eu/portal/
In case, you encounter any problems please contact the beam coordinator beamcoordinator@ganil.fr.

Important Notes:
  • Accepted proposals are valid for a three-year period and can be scheduled at any time during this period. Beyond this period the validity of the physics case has to be reevaluated by the PAC independently of the reasons for its non-realization.
  • Approved experiments will follow the GANIL data management plan and data policy
  • Approved experiments must follow the GANIL Publication Policy.
Important dates:
  • The dead line for the proposal submission is September 28, 2023 (12:00 CET).
  • The TAC will be held on October 19, 2023.
  • The dates of the PAC meeting to be held are the November 14th -15th , 2023.
