European projects

A page of History

GANIL participates in European Projects since 1994 with the 3rd Framework Programme (FP3 – 1990 to 1994) of the European Commission. This participation has considerably increased until the 5th Framework Programme (FP5 – 1998 to 2002).

GANIL started to coordinate European Projects under the 4th Framework Programme (FP4 – 1994 to 1998) with the RTD SPIRAL2 project.

During the 6th Framework Programme (FP6 – 2002 to 2006), the EURISOL DS project has been coordinated by GANIL.

Under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7 – 2007 to 2013), GANIL coordinated two projects – SPIRAL2 PP and ENSAR – and participates in CRISP, in CHANDA (EURATOM) and in LA3-NET. GANIL hosts also an ERC starting grant project, ACTAR TPC, and an individual intra-European fellowship with the MATNEC project.

Currently, during HORIZON2020 (2014-2020), GANIL coordinated also two projects – ENSAR2 and IDEAAL. It hosts an individual intra-European fellowship – the GENESE 17 project.

A large part of the EC funding coming with the ENSAR and ENSAR2 projects devoted to GANIL activities is for Access to the infrastructures, financing the beam time and the travel and subsistence of European teams coming for experiments at GANIL. The other activities funded by EC are R&D, management and support.
