GANIL staff are employed by the CEA or the CNRS.
Recruitment for a CNRS position is based on a competitive examination.
CEA staff are recruited on the basis of files and interviews.
To find out which positions are available at GANIL, you can go to the dedicated websites of CNRS and CEA:

CNRS external competitions for researchers 2025 (deadline: January 10 2025)
N°01/02 – 1 Scientist : on the theme « Nuclear structure and reactions », at the Grand Accélérateur National d’Ions Lourds (GANIL) in Caen.
Job description
The scientist will be involved in nuclear structure and reaction experimental activities, using GANIL beams. He or she will have the opportunity to work in different GANIL experimental halls, for the campaigns associated with the exploitation of various detectors. The scientist will work in the team ‘Structure, Astrophysics, Reactions and Spectroscopy’ of the GANIL Physics Department.
The STARS group covers nuclear structure, direct nuclear reactions and nuclear astrophysics using stable and radioactive beams accelerated to medium or high energies. The STARS group currently includes the scientific coordinators of EXOGAM, ACTAR, AGATA and PARIS. The experimental program is mainly carried out at GANIL, but also outside at GSI, RIKEN, Tandem d’Orsay and, in the near future, at FRIB. 100% of the permanent physicists are CNRS. The group consists (October 2024) of 5 permanent staff, 2 post-docs and 5 PhDs.
In the short term, the group is supporting the LISE scientific program through the MUGAST -EXOGAM – ZDD campaign. In the medium term, the return of AGATA to GANIL for a 2029-2030 (+1) campaign in a VAMOS -GRIT-AGATA configuration and the SPIRAL1 beams is a flagship project for the end of the decade in the group. ACTAR is due to return in 2026, most probably on LISE and will be one of the main instrument supported by the group. The group has experimental collaborations outside GANIL with one-off experiments at FRIB, FAIR, RIKEN, ISOLDE, Krakow IFJ and ALTO.
