International review of the Radio-Frequency Quadrupole of SPIRAL2

The review of the Radio-Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) of SPIRAL2 took place in GANIL in February.

Three internation experts (Alessandra Lombardi (CERN), Andrea Pisent (INFN-LNL) and Peter Ostroumov (MSU FRIB)) reviewed the present situation and difficulties, presented by SPIRAL2 project team.

The main goals were to optimize the commissioning phase in view of an optimized planning of the accelerator and to review the possible solutions to reach the nominal voltage of the RFQ.

The reviewers concluded that the project is moving ahead and reported the small gap between the present and the nominal performances. The foreseen upgrades have been reinforced at the meeting and their implementation are under evaluation in GANIL.
