The Agreement
Through this agreement, the different partners undertake to contribute towards the financing of the GANIL-led SPIRAL2 project, over a 6-year period, with a total construction cost estimated at nearly 130 million euros.
On September 4th, 2006, a framework agreement for the SPIRAL2 facility was signed.
This agreement was signed between the French State, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (CEA), together with the Basse-Normandie Region, the Calvados Department, the City of Caen, and the Caen La Mer community of cities.
The GANIL, as a large-scale research infrastructure, is a recognized world leader in the field of nuclear physics.
The local authorities are particularly attached to GANIL's development, and to its place of excellence in the European arena, which will be consolidated by the completion of SPIRAL2.
