ASN
The ASN (French Nuclear Safety Authority) guarantees, on behalf of the French State, the enforcement of nuclear safety regulations in order to protect the general public, patients, workers and the environment. It also helps to inform the public.
The Nuclear Safety Authority was set up by the nuclear transparency and safety law (known as the TSN law) as an independent administrative authority tasked with the regulation of civilian nuclear activities.
ASN is in charge, on behalf of the Government, of the regulation of nuclear safety and radiation protection in France, to protect workers, the public and the environment against the risks involved in nuclear activities. It also contributes to informing citizens.
It relies upon the expertise of the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Institute (IRSN).
