Promotion of research

Provide industry access to heavy ion beams of high quality. Perform technology transfer to companies. Encourage the creation of innovative technology companies.

Focused particularly on research in nuclear physics

The GANIL was widely open to other disciplines, from astrophysics to radiation through the physics of materials. The CIMAP (Center for Research on Ions, Materials and Photonics) by its hosting platform for interdisciplinary research at GANIL, the CIRIL, also located on campus Jules Horowitz, works largely with the beams of GANIL. Applied research is its logical follow-up, and this opening continues towards socio-economic development.

Project management, international collaborations, the implementation of quality process approach to the laboratory industry. Technology promotion is effective since 1980: expertise, skills transfer and business creation. GANIL is a founding member with the University of Caen Basse-Normandie and ENSICAEN of "Normandie Incubation" structure to facilitate business creation and technological innovation based on research laboratories.

The scientific and technical expertise of its staff allows the GANIL play a role as a conduit for the dissemination of expertise of its teams to other laboratories or to industry.

The opening for beam industrial applications

In some areas such as testing and certification of components and systems for space or performance of microporous membranes, the performance of the accelerator and the beam quality of GANIL make it a must for French and international partners .
